The number and types of managed security service providers (MSSPs) are growing, and enterprises are faced with more choices of managed security services (MSSs). Enterprises must define the scope of security activities and their level-of-service expectations before evaluating prospective MSSPs. According to the report, MSSPs in North America generated revenue of $1.8 billion in 2009, representing growth of 24 percent over 2008, and Gartner is predicting that revenue will have grown to $2.3 billion for 2010.
This leaves enterprises with more bandwidth available for running critical enterprise applications or disaster recovery without negatively impacting employees. WAN optimization also significantly reduces the amount of bandwidth consumed by other enterprise applications, freeing up more room on the WAN pipe for streaming applications.
